National Cat Groomers School
While dog grooming courses are offered at every grooming school, there has been a serious lack of proper training and education in the area of professional feline grooming. What is useful for grooming dogs cannot and should not be applied to the handling of cats. The National Cat Groomers Institute of America, Inc. (NCGIA) was formed in the spring of 2007 for the purpose of setting and maintaining cat grooming standards, providing training and education, and awarding certification when training requirements are met.
The NCGIA is the original feline-specific groomers’ association to ever be formed. It has quickly grown into an international organization with members from Canada, Australia, UK, South America, and beyond. We exist to serve professional cat groomers from around the world.
The objectives of the The National Cat Groomers Institute of America, Inc. (NCGIA) – the original cat groomer association:
- Create, define, and uphold excellent standards of feline grooming
- Provide various forms of education and training
- Conduct seminars and workshops
- Operate a feline-exclusive grooming school
- Provide testing
- Award certification
- Teach and promote safety in feline grooming
- Organize cat grooming competitions
