Feline Fantasy

I want to say a big “Thank You!” to Christine DeFilippo for hosting the Feline Fantasy Creative Cat Groom competition at Intergroom in April.  What a great thing for us cat groomers!  Finally a little time in the ring for the felines.

I had the pleasure of judging this event which meant I didn’t get a chance to take pictures.  Once the final photos of the winners are out I’ll see if I can’t get my hands on some to post here. But for now, let me just say that it was neat to see what the competitors did to their fancy felines.  I was impressed!

I was also pleased to see a couple of our NCGIA members in the mix of competitors.  Keep it up, guys. There will be more cat competitions in the future. I promise!

Open House at the new school

We were so busy getting the school up and running and doing our first two classes, that it wasn’t until now that we could manage to host an open house.

Spring time in downtown Greenville is a real treat (if you are not allergic to pollen!).

We love our old school building and its awesome location.  The amazing stuff you learn during the two week course is just icing on the cake!

What Kind of DOG is that??

Monica did her thing again at the APF show in Atlanta in March.  She walked that runway like a pro and held her own with the other 19 contestants, all of which were dogs of varying sizes.

As we were lined up outside the main ballroom before the show, several people came up to take pictures of Monica and asked, “What kind of dog is that?”  At first I thought they must be joking.  But no.  All such questions were said in complete seriousness.  This was a trade show for groomers, mind you.  Apparently we need some classes on how to recognize different species of animals, namely dogs and cats.

This just confirms to me that the grooming world is a dog’s world.  Cats are not thought to be a part of it.  If a cat is present, it is considered some sort of rare dog breed.

One thing is for sure……I’ve got my work cut out for me.

Creative Workshop

We are hosting our first creative cat groom workshop on July 23-24, 2010 here at the school. It is open to all CFMGs or anyone who has completed the two week school course.

More info can be found on the site via the Events Calendar.  Click on the workshop on the July dates and a pop-up window will tell you all you need to know.  Any questions?  Call the school or shoot us an email.

We are going to have some fun!

Here are some photos of my two girls as they were at Atlanta Pet Fair last month.
