Everything I know I learned from my cat: When you're hungry, eat. When you're tired, nap in a sunbeam. When you go to the vet's, pee on your owner. - Gary Smith

Meeting a Need
Cat grooming is not generally taught at the
average grooming school. Nor is it covered at
most grooming conventions and expos. Yet
there are millions of cats in the USA that are
in need of some form of professional
grooming.
Setting a Standard
When a standard within a particular
profession does not exist, one needs to be
created in order to maintain some level of
quality within that profession. This not only
safeguards the profession as a whole, but it
also provides the general public with a sort of
"measuring stick" with which to use when
searching for those particular services.
The NCGIA
For these reasons, the NCGIA was formed.
Through instruction, mentoring, testing,
certification, and on-going support the need
for proper cat grooming as well as the need
for maintaining quality standards can both be
met.
