“I can’t get over how people never complain about the higher cost of grooming a feline! If I charged the same amount for a dog people would complain. This is hard for me to understand. The more I see this the more I want to groom cats. Recently I had a lady bring her cat in for a groom that included a comb cut plus a de-shed treatment. This lady, happy to handle the $70.00 cost, preceded to tell me that her vet charged her $200.00 for just a shave. Why? Because they put her cat under sedation so their groomer could get the job done! “Before I attended The NCGIA, I thought I was a great groomer and had a hard time justifying the cost and travel time to earn my Masters in Cat Grooming. The Grooming Business is an unregulated business, unfortunately for pets and their owners. Other successful groomers where making derogatory comments about attending a school to learn cat grooming. The week prior to attending school, I began to second guess the money, travel, and loss of pay I would be missing.
After the first day of school, I discovered WHAT I DID NOT KNOW AS A CAT GROOMER! The class was incredible! The class covers so many topics! It is fast faced and you are not wasting time to achieve a certain required amount of hours to obtain a certificate. Whatever your level may be before you attend the course. You will leave with knowledge and new techniques in grooming felines! After attending the NCGIA, my grooming skills have improved exponentially. Today I enjoy talking with my clients with confidence and knowledge about their cats! I consider myself more than just a groomer!”

“I am finding that people are liking the whole “certified” aspect of my credentials. I did a cat earlier that I was the perfect person to do because you wouldn’t want someone who didn’t know what they were doing to touch this cat. She was a 20-year old, very thin Persian who had been cut in the past by a groomer, and she had health problems. My vet recommended my service to the mom who was reassured that I was a CFMG and would do the best job possible on her precious kitty, whom she was very attached to.
There was a second client who also called me specificially because of the CFMG. Her cat was also extremely matted and she wanted the reassurance of the training I had received through Danelle and the NCGIA. I was glad the Air Muzzle had been invented for that cat! And it still took 2 1/2 hours with no assistant; the cat was that matted and angry.”

I attended your webinar on grooming aggressive cats the other night, and lo and behold a new cat I had this afternoon was a difficult kitty. Apparently she’d been kicked out of two other local grooming shops while she was on calming meds. So she came to me already on meds because of her former demeanor.
One thing in particular that I learned during the webinar was to work (at least in part) with the cat on my lap. Wow, I never realized how much easier that makes some of the work!
The other thing I took away from your webinar was the use of the Air Muzzle. While I don’t have the Air Muzzle anymore (mine somehow disappeared years ago), I do have the half-muzzles they sell (not sure what they’re called). They work so much better than a regular cat muzzle! I can’t believe I haven’t used these for cats before.
The webinar was SO well worth the time spent. I had the cat in and out in less than an hour, and she was no problem at all. The owner was in shock! : )
